Got a white Betta today, as my previous one got very sick and sadly had to be put down...

This white one is really beautiful though, and I had great fun taking pictures of him :)

Hope you like this :aww:

Just a question; How do you put a fish down?

There are plenty of ways to put fish down. They actually sell something called "fin-quel". It slowly puts the fish to sleep. That's the most humane way to do it... I've also heard of people putting them in the freezer till they slowly get so cold they shut down. And some people do it the old fashion way use aspirin..

He's so pretty! ^_^.... but how do you put a betta down? I've heard of different methods, but which one do you trust?

thanks! :) and I prefer the method of putting them in a cup of boiling water. It took less than a second for the fish to die, which I think is better than giving it a slow, painful death.

Okay I'll research that. I normally either let them die on their own, or freeze them.

thank you! and you're lucky to have so many :3
My other betta got this infection of sorts, that I've no idea how he got. It just looked like his fins were rotting away, and he turned brown instead of blue. I put him in a separate, tiny tank with water from his original tank, but he looked like he was in a lot of pain, so I eventually decided on letting him go (I put him in a cup of boiling water, for a quick and painless death). :(
The people at the pet store said it was actually a bit normal for bettas to get that kind of infection, and that it wasn't contagious (luckily). It was apparently just a betta-thing :p Other fish can of course get it too, but bettas are more prone to getting it.

I knoooow, I love my boys! They're all such characters, they're my fave fishies :3
Awhh, maybe fin rot? Basically it's where the water conditions aren't perfect so their fins rot down. My boys with longer fins get it sometimes, you can usually cure it by doing 25% water changes with warm, dechlorinated every day for a week or so and it should get better. Also, a good way to euthanize them is to get some clove oil. It's usually used for tooth ache but if you get a jar of their tank water water and add 15 drops of clove oil, then add the fish, they'll go to sleep and then die. I've had to use it with ill fish before and it's nice to know that you're doing the right thing and they won't be in pain. :)

I'm usually not one to like fish, but this fish is Beautiful xD this shot is wonderful, probably one of the best i've ever seen of a fish, usually a tank or something would make it fuzzy. Its almost as if you're in the water with the fish here :'D

My friend had a red Beta named Rojo [because he was red >w>] now she has an orange one named Anaranjado ['cause he's orange >w>]
it's her goal to get a rainbow of Beta's and name them in Spanish.

So you should name him "Blanko" for "White" if you haven't named him yet :3

"Blanko" was a cool name :o although I've already named him "Freckles" because he has red freckles on his head. Oh, I'm so creative with names *rolls eyes* ;P
Thanks for the name suggestion though

That's plenty creative! We had a goldfish named "Goldie". And we have another fish called "Fishy". And to replace Goldie after s/he died I got a red and black one and named it Hernando the Christmas Fish 'cause I got him for Christmas o3o

Thank for the suggestion. I don't shop at Walmart because they sell firearms and I'm a pacifist. :) and I wouldn't doubt they sell the poor creatures in horrible conditions.
