Sam's solitude - sketch by oomizuao Sam's solitude - sketch by oomizuao
I found a drawing program through a post on Tumblr. It's called Mischief, and one of the many cool things about it is the ability to zoom times infinity without the lines getting pixellish...! I found it really fun to sketch with :) haven't tried coloring with it yet though. Here's a link to where you can get it: www.madewithmischief.com/downl…
But yeah, anyways... here's a sketch of Sam's classroom, during recess. This is from the later chapters that are about Sam and how he copes with things after Spike left. In this sketch though, he's blocking out the world through music (those are earbuds, not piercings, by the way ;) ) and draws to focus on something else than all the things that are troubling him.

So, yeah, just a more casual scene I guess...

I hope you guys like it, even though it's just a sketch and the background isn't the best and stuff... ^^; :B

Just a quick question/suggestion thing:
I think I saw somewhere that you mentioned this story taking place in/around the 80's? If so, it would be unlikely for Spike to have a CD player as portable ones were not common until the early 2000's. If he were to have a portable music player it would likely be a Walkman cassette player.

...Unless this is meant to be much later where portable CD players were already becoming common, in which case disregard everything I just said. I'm not so great with keeping track of the timeline, unfortunately. ^^;

I hope this was a helpful critique thing?

Sorry about the confusion; I've quite recently changed the storyline to be in the mid- to late 90's, pretty much because I know more about that time period myself than the 80's (saves me a lot of research too, lol jk ) and because I think it's a little easier for most to relate to. Also, I don't think I'll change it to a more current time period, because I don't want Sam and Spike to have laptops and use smart phones... ^^;  But I want them to be able to play video games, for Sam to have a portable CD player, perhaps even a cellphone to call his dad with, and have some form of "advanced" technology available, just not too advanced :)

But yeah, I don't remember if I've mentioned this to anyone on DA before...? So sorry if this was a little confusing ^^;
Well done noticing though :D

Oh, you don't have to apologize at all! I think it's cool that you're setting it before the turn of the millennium to have minimal advanced technologies but still be relatable to a wide audience and keep everything simple. I don't think you had mentioned switching up the timeline to be in the 90's though, but that's cool and I'll keep that in mind! The reason I was so confused was because I was never sure what time period/character ages the majority of the story takes place in and the time span between the start of the story and when Spike leaves? That's why I got a little confused over the presence of a CD player. (I probably overlooked a detail and got it mixed up with the timeline of something else I've been following)

I just can't seem to "X" this off of my deviantWATCH messages... for some reason I love your sketches! They're just so amazing, simple... ARGH! why must I be so bad at describing... love this, why don't you post more sketchy stuff?

I know he's always sad, but older Sam always looks so cute.  XP
