sorry for...

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 31, 2013, 1:22 AM

Just wanted to apologize for not having been very active here on DA lately, and I kinda felt I should let you know why;

The usual answer to this that I have is "I've been busy," which I somehow often am.
I've got a couple of non-internet-related illustration commissions, that I can't tell you more about yet (sort of classified information until it's all ready/finished/published) ;)

So, while I do think they're really fun commissions to work with, they do take up most of my time, art wise.
And when I'm not drawing, I'm at my new job. I don't work at a pet store anymore I've actually worked at three pet stores since I moved here..! First and second one I absolutely loved! So it was really sad when I had to find new jobs... And no, I didn't get fired. :XD: the reasons I had to change jobs were mainly due to, well, different reasons, like the store closing and stuff.. The third pet store I decided to leave after a while, because that place just didn't feel right. And I think it's important to love your job, or at least like it a lot and look forward to going to work.
Anyways, this new job is at a school where I teach art and stuff. So far I love it there :)

So basically, lack of extra time on my hands is why I don't post much art. And it's hard to get inspired too, when all my focus is on those other things, you know?

I'm really happy, though, about the fantastic response I received from you guys on my Cain and Frick comic! :aww: :la:
I mean, I didn't like that comic much at all, especially after some criticism I got on it last year... ^^; Honestly though, seeing all your positive and eager comments just made my day/week/month, and made me even more determined to finish the whole comic some day - only it'll have to be after "SPIKE" is done.

Speaking of which; more chapters have been made! But, due to the same reasons as why I haven't been very productive art-wise, I haven't written in a long, long while now. At least it feels like a long while since the last time I wrote those chapters..
I have taken lots of notes though, on what I think should happen next and so on XD I mean, I have the plot figured out, I had that figured out quite some time ago, but I've been working on the details around the plot, which basically is the chapters.

Well, I better get back to work again. I've got a deadline today ^^;
But I'll try to find the time to make some more art, and reply to your notes and comments (sorry for not having been any good at replying to you guys... :(  ).

By the way, though;
My DA chatroom is up and running now. :)
since I'm working at home in my "home-office" lately, I'm by the computer as good as every day now. So I'm on the chat quite often if anyone feel like chatting :)

Not prying, but can I get a hint if I'll be able to purchase SPIKE in paper anytime soon? :)

I was planning on finishing the book this year, but it seems I won't have as much time to do that as first planned after all. I'm working as fast as I can, at the same time as I don't want to rush my writing. But the planning and outlining is pretty much done, so all there is left, is actually just to write it all in chapter form and combine them all into one file. When that is done, I'll have to edit it, or have someone help me edit it, or both.. ^^; probably both. And I've no idea how long that will take.
It's sort of impossible for me, at the moment, to say when it will be available for purchase. All I can say is that it won't be up for sale this year, but -hopefully- I'm way closer to reaching the goal by the end of the year. I'm planning to go for self publishing (not sure if you know about my plans for this already though), since that probably won't take as long as waiting for real publishers to -maybe- (if I'm lucky) want to publish my novel. I figure that I'll try self publishing first, which makes it possible for the book to be shipped worldwide to anyone who wants to buy it. My readers have been patient enough, so when the book is finally done, I want it to be up for sale as quickly as possible ;) Hence self publishing.
But so far, I've no idea when it will be done, sadly...
Thank you so much for showing such interest in it though :hug:

I'd pay to have art classes with you... REALLY!!. But I live in Mexico. If I were able to put some kind of webcam and become your online student, I would. But that's sort of imposible too, starting by the language Jaja xD

By the way, good luck in your new project and your work. If at any time you can show it, we will be happy to see it. ^^

I had a weird dream about older Spike and younger Spike last night. Older Spike met younger Spike and saved him from drowning and from severe depression. I think I have been reading too much of your comics and watching too much of your art stuff! :giggle:
It all worked out in the end. Young Spike was told everything would work out in the end.
Too many late nights I feel...

I liked the Cain and Frick comic. But that's not to say you shouldn't take criticism for what you do. Remember that the people who follow you and comment on dA are people who already like your work (and frankly there's a lot of flattery and compliment-showering here), so I guess we're kinda biased. Take constructive criticism to heart, listen to what people say, but use your smarts to determine whether negative feedback is warranted.

I've always wondered what it would be like to be friends with a teacher XD But then I thought 'wow... weird if my teacher had dA and I found them XD'
What year do you teach ?? ^_^

Don't worry about DA, We all are fine. but we want you to finish Spike.
So please, if you are reading this. Think about it. just a few hours each week.
I've been waiting for years (literally) to know the ending.
Please, I really need you to keep working on it.

I'm experiencing being too busy as well, though my reason is that I must stuff as much time as possible into my final animation project for school.
People can't be at two places at the same time, so no one can expect you to be able to :)
Good luck with those commisions.

... i got a new idol C:

you make such fantastic art, you worked at a pet shop (what i think is a wonderful workspace) and now you teach others to draw (maybe such unbelievable like you? :giggle:)
i make my construction technician at the time, and even if i'm not so known and haven't such a big number of viewers like you, i know what it means to haven't the time to be creative :(
so, do your best, don't forget whats important for you and live like you want, not as others say you should :thumbsup:

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's more important to focus on whatever it is you need to get done and not get dragged down by the weight of online expectations. Everyone who watches your art will most likely be patient enough to wait for more of your stuff.
